The Usual Suspects

The Usual Suspects is a marvellous film starring Stephen Baldwin, Gabriel Byrne, Chazz Palminteri, Kevin Pollak, Pete Postlethwaite, Kevin Spacey, and Benicio del Toro. Released in 1997, the film was well received with Christopher McQuarrie awarded the Academy Award for the screenplay, and Spacey receiving the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

The budget of the film was just $5.5 million and was shot in only 35 days in Los Angeles. The police lineup scene was mostly improvised by the actors! The screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie fed the actors questions off-camera and it was their job to completely make up their answers. When Stephen Baldwin gave his answer, everyone kept breaking their character by laughing. Spacey claimed it was almost impossible not to laugh during a take as Baldwin and Pollack were hilarious, the pair always trying to make the serious Byrne laugh. The police lineup scene took all morning to film as a result! I seriously recommend everyone sort their ipad out with some great ipad 1 accessories and sit back to enjoy the film!

New Windows

My mum has just had new windows put into the house and the amount of light now coming in is startling, it’s as if the house is being illuminated by hundreds of led gu10 bulbs!

It’s very easy to live in darkness once you become used to it, indeed it is comforting. When I was at university, the flat I lived in had massive shutters that could be pulled across the windows, barring even a shard of sunlight from making its way in. It’s a dangerous lifestyle however, as the temporal distinctions between day and night become increasingly blurred as the shutters increasingly remain closed. Also, it is very difficult to see if there is dust all over the place – something I realized a bit late after a rather gnarly chest infection set in on once of my housemates.

So, a former shadow-hugger, I am not revelling in the amount of sunlight my mother’s house is being flooded with. Not a speck of dust goes unnoticed, leaving chest infection causing bugs seriously unemployed. I recommend it to anyone reading, get new windows! Or at least, open those shutters.

Detox Time!

I'm trying to slim down because I've put on a few pounds recently, so I'm doing a detox diet for a couple of weeks, or as long as I can handle it really!

I'm having pretty much 90% fruit and veg, as much of it raw as possible as that's when it's at its healthiest.

The most important part of the detox is to flush out the rubbish in your body, so I'm going to have lots of fluids, I have a tap water purifier that I'm making the most of, and I've got some natural chemical-free cordials to make it a bit more interesting too.

It's going to be harder at work, but I'll just have to be well prepared with meals and snacks, and I can have lots of natural caffeine free teas from the boiling water dispenser in the kitchen, so I'm sure it won't be too hard!

Getting A Bit Girly

I'm always changing my style, I go through phases but I'm usually fairly true to what I like: leopard print, girly things, pink, band t-shirts, and rock'n'roll styling.

Lately I've started to really get into the whole 50s pin up rockabilly style. I know it's something that a lot of girls do, some do it really well too, but I think it's just the kind of style I've been looking for but too lazy to achieve.

I'm growing my hair out so I can style it a bit better in more 50s styles, and it'll be really easy to adapt my wardrobe to a more girly rockabilly one.

I'm not going to go all silly with floral dresses, that's not me, but it's about teaming this new style that I admire with what I already do.

I just love how feminine it is, while still being really powerful and strong, it's great.

Taken Advantage Of

I'm sick of feeling taken advantage of by people I care about, it's just getting to the point where it's beyond unfair now.

My family are great and would never do anything like this to me, except maybe my sister sometimes but she's young and getting better with it now, but my friends are a joke.

There are people who were once my best friends, but are now way too interested in themselves and getting things out of people they know. The amount of money I've lent them and never gotten back, lifts I've given them all over the place (none of them will step foot in my new Fiat!).

I've been a friend to these people who will then leave me at the drop of a hat if something better comes along. Well not any more, I've had enough, if they're not going to act like my friends, they're not going to be my friends any more.
